News with filters
May 31, 2007
You know what I’d love as a killer VOD app? A 24/7 news channel, but with no defined script: stories are available on the server and served by some magic “relevance order” to the user, with the option to filter out classes of news.
That way, when someone famous dies, I can see the first story that states the facts, then filter out his name and skip straight through all the heartwarming eulogies by close friends and failing actors on the rebound looking for a TV opportunity, and get on with actual news… Like the french citizen being sentenced to death in Indonesia, or the future of the european union being discussed in Madrid.
My news should tell me about the world and let me form my opinions, not bribe me with emotion pieces. And I want to be able to kill the noise to let the signal through.
Start-up, anyone? Joost, are you listening?
