Psalms of Extinction
October 29, 2007

This weekend, metal was king. Pain is blowing the heads off metalheads all over Europe, and last night, he was in Geneva. So were we.
I’d last seen Pain two years ago, the closing act of Summer Breeze 2005. Along with the Battlelore gig at Wacken 06, that is one of my best concert memories. If all concerts could have such an electric atmosphere… Anyway.
So, Pain is touring Europe, and the closest gig we had was in Geneva. That’s about 3 hours on the road each way. I’ll gloss over the wandering through Geneva, looking for ‘L’Usine’, an independant collective of various artist groups. The atmosphere is very much alternative underground, pretty neat.
We warm up with Zonaria, followed by Sybreed’s cyber metal. I’m not a big fan of either, but there was some good stuff in there.
And then… The lights dim, and the crowd goes insane. M. Tägtgren is on stage. And despite all of them being sick to the bone, they did indeed blow our heads off.
I don't know how long I'll still have a voice, but we'll keep going until it dies.
- Peter Tägtgren
I think I’m going to stop now, because it’s just not possible to describe the feeling of the whole crowd singing the opening bars of Shut Your Mouth, and Peter following up with 4 minutes of madness.
Thank you M. Tägtgren for this awesome, awesome gig. See you next tour!
